Cervical Corpectomy and Fusion
A cervical corpectomy and fusion is similar to an anterior cervical laminectomy and fusion. But, it involves more bone removal. Your surgeon may choose to remove the vertebrae between discs in order to get a full decompression of the nerves and spinal cord. This is also sometimes required for fractures or tumors. The area where the bone is removed is replaced with cadaver bone, your own bone (auto-graft) or spine spacers (cages).
