M.I.L.D. (Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression)

The M.I.L.D. procedure is a new, minimally invasive approach to reduce pain and improve mobility in patients experiencing lumbar spinal stenosis. Compared to more invasive surgical procedures that require general anesthesia, a M.I.L.D. can be performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia or light sedation, resulting in patients experiencing fewer complications. Moreover, procedure and recovery times are generally reduced compared to more invasive procedures, after which patients may need rehabilitation or physical therapy. The M.I.L.D procedure combines advanced technologies used by surgeons and medical techniques used by pain management physicians into one minimally invasive procedure. The procedure will include the use of a fluoroscope and special dye and through 5 mm tubes will be able to effectively remove tissue that is causing the symptoms of spinal stenosis.
